On February 22, the cargo ship "WES ESTHER" was launched. Built by Damen Yichang Shipyard for a German shipowner, this is the company’s first Combi Freighter 3850 ship of the year.
This vessel has a deadweight of 3,850 tons, an overall length of 89.70 meters and a beam of 12.50 meters. Its design makes it capable of maintaining a speed of more than 10 knots/hour against a headwind when fully loaded.

Including the just launched WES ESTHER, Damen Yichang Shipyard has received orders for 13 Combi Freighter 3850 ships and two larger Combi Freighter 5000 ships. The company’s production capacity is fully booked through May 2024.
Last year, Yichang’s shipbuilders made 125 new ships, with a total deadweight of 60,000 tonnes. Of the 50 “new energy ships” built in Hubei province last year, 28 were made in Yichang.
With its excellent natural environment and solid industrial foundation, Yichang plans to develop itself into a national hub for the smart ship industry, becoming the largest green and smart ship manufacturing base in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
