Rail line to Maoping Port starts to take shape

Construction of the rail line to Maoping Port kicked off on February 20.
Maoping Port is located in Zigui County, upstream of the Three Gorges Dam. Tourists and goods from the upstream of Chongqing arrive here by water before being transported to all parts of China by land.
The new rail line will speed up cargo collection, unloading and transport in Maoping port, and further improve the Yangtze River transport system and boost transit speed in the Three Gorges Hub.
The new 40km line starts at Yichang South Railway Station and ends at Maoping Port in Zigui County.
It will connect a key station on the 377km Yichang-Yiwan Railway, which runs west from Yichang to the Wanzhou district of Chongqing City in west China.
