The project is located in Xiling District, the cultural and commercial center of Yichang, adjacent to the Gezhouba Water Control Project.
It includes the comprehensive development of cultural tourism projects in Xiba Island, Pinghu Peninsula, Pinghu Bay Area, Yichang Qu Yuan Cultural Industrial Park and Jiangnan Hotel, among others. It is designated to lead the transformation of the local tourism industry.
Xiba, which literally means “West Dam,” is a small island in the middle of the Yangtze River. After rushing out of Nanjin Pass, the Yangtze River slows and widens from 300 meters to about 2,200 meters at the dam site. Two small islands, Gezhouba and Xiba, divide the river into three channels. This is where the Gezhouba Dam was built.
Yichang Qu Yuan Cultural Industrial Park will be built to merge culture with parks, research, and experiences. Qu Yuan was one of the greatest poets in ancient China. Born in the State of Chu (c. 1030 – 223 BCE) during the Warring States Period (475-221 B.C.), Qu served as a high-ranking official in Chu.

He said: “Relatively speaking, Yichang's urban tourism still needs to be further developed. These newly signed projects will make up for the shortcomings of urban tourism and add some immersive tourism projects, so that visitors will have a different experience when they come to Yichang.”
