On January 8, 2023, China resumed the provision of travel documents, including passport applications and permits to visit China’s Macau and Hong Kong for tourism and business purposes.
Demand is high. With the Spring Festival holidays just around the corner, many people in Yichang are making travel plans.
A woman surnamed Peng was first in line at the Yichang passport service counter. She plans to travel to China’s Macau and Hong Kong with her eight-year-old son during the Spring Festival holidays.
Some residents applied for passports so they could attend family reunions. Li Kui’s sister works in Hong Kong. He said he and his mother were looking forward to being reunited with her.
More than 2,000 people are expected to apply for documents in the coming days, according to Huang Aihua, a staff member of the Exit and Entry Administration of the Yichang Public Security Bureau.
