Yichang to build hydropower industrial park

An agreement was signed between the Yichang Municipal Government, the Three Gorges Corporation and ZHEFU Holding (ZFH).

The industrial park will be capable of producing 10 sets of hydropower pumped-storage units each year. It will also carry out research, and handle maintenance and repair work for traditional hydropower electricity generators.

“We wish the builders speedy progress and look forward to ramping up operations. Yichang is keen to manufacture high-end hydropower equipment,” said Ma Zhejiang, the mayor of Yichang.

The Three Gorges Corporation, the world's largest hydropower station builder and operator, has secured hydroelectric plant contracts representing more than 45 million kilowatts of electricity. 

ZFH is one of the top three hydropower equipment manufacturers in China and its largest private clean energy equipment manufacturer.

According to Ma, Yichang is aiming to develop a hydropower equipment cluster that will serve not only the Yangtze River basin but the whole country.

Yichang plans to construct 15 pumped-storage hydroelectric plants, said Ma.
