Yichang Sanxia Airport transports over 1.25 million passenger in 2022

The operation level of the Yichang Sanxia Airport in 2022 was equal to about 60 percent of 2021.

 

In 2022, a total of 14,200 flights have taken off and landed at Yichang Sanxia Airport, equivalent to about 65 percent of that in 2021. The airport registered an annual passenger throughput of 1,252,500 person-times, nearly 57 percent of 2021. Its cargo throughput reached 6,824.5 tons, roughly 70 percent of 2021.

 

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation business had decreased sharply country-wide in 2022. Yichang Sanxia Airport has encouraged airlines to open more trunk routes in the Yichang area. In 2022, the airport hosted 20 airlines with 49 air routes to 43 domestic cities. 

 

In another major development, Yichang Sanxia Airport Logistics Co., Ltd. was established in March 2022, providing all-round and one-stop air cargo collection, storage, transportation, delivery and other services. The cargo throughput per flight increased by 25 percent year-on-year. 

 

On July 25, 2022, a departure duty-free shop was approved to be established in Yichang Sanxia Airport to lift Yichang's tourism infrastructure to an international level.
