Yichang Shooter recognized as International-level Master Sportsman
On December 29 Liu Yafei, a 16 year-old Yichang shooter, was awarded the certificate of International-level Master Sportsman by the Shooting and Archery Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China. She is the first Yichang shooter to be recognized as an International-level Master Sportsman.
Professional athletes in China are divided into the following six levels: International-level Master Sportsman, Master Sportsman, First-level Athlete, Second-level Athlete, Third-level Athlete and Junior athlete. Liu's achievement follows her performance at the 2022 ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Championships in Cairo this October.
At the 2022 ISSF World Championships, Liu won a silver medal in the Air Rifle Team Women’s Junior event with a total score of 939.8, and a bronze medal in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team Junior event with a total score of 628. Her two medals helped the Chinese team to first place on the medal table with 58 medals. Her outstanding performance also marks a historic breakthrough for Yichang in shooting.
