Yichang Museum has recently won the 2020-2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize, the highest award in China’s construction industry.

Yichang Museum became the seventh structure to win gold for the city in the construction field. Six other construction works, including the Yichang Yangtze River Highway Bridge and Yiling Yangtze River Bridge, have won in past years.

The museum boasts ten exhibition themes, a collection of over 35,000 pieces/sets and 1,600 valuable artifacts. It has attracted a total of 1.29 million visitors since opening.

Construction for the museum began in 2014 and was finished in 2019.

Yichang Museum is the biggest prefecture-level museum in Hubei Province, whose exterior resembles a huge Chinese Ding (an ancient cooking vessel).

During construction, 22 new technologies were adopted. The technologies included IoT (Internet of Things), natural lighting and landscape watering systems. The team was awarded four patents in total: one invention patent and three utility model patents.
