In a letter of appreciation to Yichang City, Mr. Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, expressed his sincere gratitude to Yichang City for donating 250,000 yuan (US$35,460) in aid to Pakistan following the devastating floods this summer.
In 2020, after the COVID-19 outbreak in Yichang, Pakistan offered Yichang relief supplies of masks, protective equipment and rice.
This summer, after learning that Pakistan had suffered the worst-ever flood in its history, with one-third of its territory flooded and tens of millions of people losing their homes, Yichang City immediately decided to offer help. The Foreign Affairs Office of Yichang Municipal People's Government, together with the Yichang Red Cross Society and the People's Government of Yiling District, jointly donated 250,000 yuan to Pakistan to support infrastructure rebuilding and economic recovery in Haripur and Kahuta, two cities that have strong bonds with Yichang City.
"This is also a true reflection of the time-tested friendship and iron-brotherhood between China and Pakistan." said Mr. Moin ul Haque, "Long live China-Pakistan Friendship!"
