Yichang’s health authority held the latest “Solar Terms and Health" press conference on April 19, the day before Guyu, the final solar term of spring.

Guyu, or Grain Rain, marks a significant period in the traditional Chinese calendar. As the sixth of the 24 solar terms, Guyu typically falls around April 20 and lasts until early May. It signals the start of the rainy season, bringing much-needed moisture that supports the growth of crops.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Guyu is a time to focus on maintaining good health through practices that promote wellness and seasonal dietary adjustments.
At the event, TCM experts combined traditional Chinese and Western medical knowledge to share practical health tips, dietary therapy methods and disease prevention advice.
A TCM-themed morning market was held alongside the press conference, drawing visitors for consultations and immersive experience.

The event featured four themed areas: traditional therapies, TCM-inspired food, TCM culture and medical consultations. Experts offered health consultations and services, while visitors could sample medicinal soups and seasonal cakes as well as experience acupuncture and other traditional therapies.
