Yichang hosted a tourism promotion event in Guangzhou on April 8, spotlighting its cultural and travel attractions to draw more visitors from the South China metropolis.
The 2025 Yichang Cultural Tourism Marketing Promotion Conference was organized by the Yichang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and attended by more than 30 leading tourism companies in Yichang, including Three Gorges Cultural Tourism Group, Yichang Branch of Hubei Culture and Tourism Group, the Tribe of the Three Gorges Scenic Area and Three Gorges Waterfall.

Under the theme “Discover Hubei, Connect with Yichang,” the event saw a tourism exchange pact signed between travel agencies from Yichang and Guangzhou to boost mutual visitor flows.
Five new travel routes were highlighted, including the Yangtze River Cultural Tour, which features iconic sights along the Three Gorges. Key attractions like the Three Gorges Dam, The Tribe of the Three Gorges Scenic Area, and Three Gorges Waterfall Scenic Area introduced upgraded amenities and tailored itineraries for the Guangzhou market.
With a history of over 2,400 years, Yichang — known as the “Gateway to the Three Gorges” — is the birthplace of cultural legends like poet Qu Yuan and Wang Zhaojun. The city is home to 72 A-rated attractions, including four 5A-level sites, such as the Three Gorges Dam and the Hometown of Qu Yuan Tourist Area.
Travel companies from Yichang and Guangzhou discussed collaborative ideas to optimize tours, expand markets, and elevate services, aiming to build a “River-to-Sea” tourism network.
The event featured traditional Zhaojun-themed dances and a cultural market, offering a glimpse into Yichang’s heritage. Yichang officials presented plans to upgrade infrastructure and refine its “tourism+” model, prioritizing seamless, immersive travel experiences.
