Yichang sees travel surge during Qingming holiday

Over the three-day Qingming holiday, the Yichang Railway Department of China Railway Wuhan Group handled a total of 236,000 passengers, including 104,000 from Yichang East Railway Station.
Passenger flow peaked on April 6, with 98,000 passengers departing in a single day. During peak hours, 18 high-speed trains departed within just one hour, said the department.

During the holiday, Yichang Sanxia International Airport handled 212 flights and nearly 24,000 passengers. The number of international inbound and outbound passengers was 1,231, a 52 percent increase compared to last year, with foreign travelers accounting for 77.7 percent.
With 35 routes linking 41 cities and five overseas destinations, top picks included Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
