The first new-energy traction locomotive in Hubei province that has undergone an "oil-to-electric" upgrade, is being assembled and tested in Yidu, Yichang.
The green locomotive is Hubei Province's first oil-to-electric traction engine.

This locomotive, modified from a fossil fuel version, measures 21.1 meters in length and weighs 138 tons. Painted green to emphasize its eco-friendly design, it features a LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery module with a capacity of 2,300 kWh and a total power output of 2,160 kW. The locomotive can achieve a maximum tractive effort of 6,200 tons.
The 21.1-meter, 138-ton pure electric locomotive is being lifted onto the rails for assembly and testing.

After about a week of assembly, testing and load traction trials, the locomotive will begin operations. It is expected to cut carbon emissions by more than 400 tons annually.
