Yichang Railway Sees Surge in Spring Festival Travel

Yichang East railway station reported around 443,000 passenger trips during this year’s eight-day Spring Festival holiday, an 11.4 percent year-on-year increase. This figure included 206,000 passengers handled by Yichang East railway station, marking a 2.9 percent rise.

The station added routes to Wuhan, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, with 245 trains running daily. On February 4th, the passenger count hit a peak of 105,000, a surge of 18.5 percent from the previous year.

To manage the return travel peaks, transportation authorities deployed more staff at various procedures, boosting transportation capacity and enhancing information sharing. Volunteer teams offered assistance and service counters provided medicine, masks, and other essentials.
