The 2025 Spring Festival travel rush begins on January 14 and continue through February 22. The railway section managed by the China Railway Wuhan Group in Yichang is expected to handle over two million passengers across 12 stations, including Yichang East, Enshi, and Jingmen West, with an average of 51,000 daily passengers. Yichang East Station alone is projected to receive 920,000 passengers and dispatch 930,000 during this period.

This year's Spring Festival features an extended eight-day holiday. Yang Xiaoyan, the head of passenger services at the Yichang section, stated that peak travel days will be January 27, February 4, and February 13. Before the festival, Yichang East Station is expected to experience heavy traffic heading toward Sichuan, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Enshi. After the festival, travel patterns will shift to cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Wuhan.

The railway department will implement a "one-day-one-map" strategy to manage the travel rush. This plan includes operating 224 scheduled trains, 107 temporary trains, and 52 peak-line trains. The Jingjing High-Speed Railway, which opened in December 2024, is set to introduce its Spring Festival service with 30 trains connecting major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

To help make the travel experience a little easier for passengers, stations are embracing a festive atmosphere with electronic displays, posters, and cultural exhibitions starting from the first day of the travel rush. In partnership with the Yichang Calligraphers Association, Yichang East Station will organize activities like Spring Festival couplet writing and paper cutting crafts.

In addition, the station also offers accessible pathways and service windows to accommodate travelers with disabilities.

Tickets for New Year's Eve (January 28) went on sale on January 14, while return tickets for February 4 and February 12 will be available on January 21 and January 29, respectively.
