The Yiling Yangtze River Bridge reopened to traffic today after undergoing 14 months of upgrades and cable changes, enhancing connectivity between the north and south banks of the river.

The Yiling Yangtze River Bridge reopens to traffic today.

This morning Yichang hosted a New Year’s running event for 2025 that took runners across the bridge, attracting over 10,000 participants from all walks of life.

Starting tomorrow, three bus routes -- B532, B27, and B119 -- will resume operations across the bridge. This will bring the total number of bus routes that cross the Yangtze River in Yichang’s urban area to six. B552 and B215 continue to operate across the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, while route B513 serves the Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge.

The Yiling Yangtze River Bridge is a critical infrastructure component in Yichang City, Hubei Province, linking Dianjun District with Wujiagang District. It was completed and opened to traffic at the end of 2001. The bridge was closed in October 2023 in order to change its stay cables and begin upgrades on its road surfaces.
