The total cargo tonnage of ports will reach over 4 billion tons along the Yangtze River mainline this year, up nearly 4% year-on-year, as reported on December 26 by the Changjiang River Administration of Navigational Affairs under the Ministry of Transportation.

This growth solidifies the Yangtze River's leading status as the world's busiest inland waterway.

Shipping along the Yangtze River offers significant cost advantages, with bulk cargo rates at about one-tenth of road transportation costs.
