Yichang airport launches direct flights to Hanoi

Yichang now offers direct flights to Hanoi, Vietnam, with theintroduction of a new route by Qingdao Airlines on December 12. This three-times-a-week service establishes the first direct air connection between the two cities.
Departing from Yichang Sanxia International Airport, flights to Hanoi are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 12:25 pm, arriving in Hanoi at 5:15 pm. Return flights are available on the same days at 2:50 pm, reaching Hanoi at 6:20 pm.
This is the fourth international route launched from Yichang Airport since its expansion to facilitate international flights. Past destinations include Bangkok, Thailand; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Seoul, South Korea.

The airports international passenger throughput reached a record of 100,000 with the arrival of 129 Vietnamese travelers on December 12. This makes it the second airport in Hubei Province to reach a passenger throughput of 100,000, after Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.

As of December 12, the airport saw a total of 672 flights in 2024. Passenger throughput reached 100,000, marking a 68.4 percent increase from 2019, which was its best year ever.
Of these, foreign passengers accounted for over 60,000, representing 61.1 percent. This marked a staggering 713.6 percent increase from 2019, making it the highest proportion of foreign passengers in the province.
Looking ahead, the airport has plans to expand its route network by introducing new destinations. On December 17, routes to Hong Kong will be added, followed by Singapore on January 2, 2025.
