Founded in July 2010, Hongju Shipbuilding in Zhijiang specializes in shipbuilding and repair services. The company is a member of the China Shipbuilding Industry Association and serves as a directorate member of the Hubei Shipbuilding Industry Association.
In May 2024, the company gained approval for import and export operations, marking its entry into the Indonesian market. Hongju Shipbuilding General Manager Wang Bin said: "We expect to receive more orders from Indonesia in the future, across a variety of vessel types, such as deck barges, tugs, oil tankers, and refined oil transport ships."
The company has completed two deck barges for South America and is actively discussing projects with clients in Thailand, Malaysia, and several African countries. It aims to increase its international market presence next year by boosting the share of foreign shipbuilding orders. A company executive stated that overseas orders will account for 80% of its total business, with an estimated total value of US$40 million.
