The ballastless track construction between Yichang North Station and Yangjiabang for the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway has been completed.
Ballastless track construction is the final and most precision-critical step in building a high-speed railway. The 17.1-kilometer track was completed in under five months using advanced CRTS (China Railway Track System) Slab Ballastless Track (SBT) technology.
Once operational, the 313-kilometer Wuhan-Yichang high-speed railway will cut travel time between the two cities from two hours to one. With eight stations along the route and a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the railway is expected to enhance regional connectivity and economic development.
