22,000 runners join 2024 Yichang Marathon

A total of 22,000 participants took part in the 2024 Yichang Marathon on November 3. The race began at 7:30 am from Zhenjiang Pavilion, following a scenic route that connects several beautiful landmarks in Yichang.
Runners represented 33 Chinese provinces and included 21 foreign participants from eight countries.
This year’s race included four categories: the full marathon (42.195 kilometers), the half marathon (21.0975 kilometers), the 10-kilometer Vitality Run, and the 5-kilometer Mini Run.
Dennis Kemboi Bera of Kenya won the men's full marathon in 2:16:17. Leah Cheruto, also from Kenya, took the women's title with a time of 2:35:06.
In the half marathon, China's Yu Tong won the men's division in 1:07:12, while Kenya's Muriuki Naomi Wambui claimed victory in the women's division with a time of 1:18:19.
The Yichang Marathon, held six times since 2016, is now recognized as one of the "World Athletics Label Road Races," designating it as one of the leading road races globally by World Athletics (formerly IAAF until 2019).
This year, runners passed many scenic spots, including Binjiang Park, Yichang Evacuation Memorial Park, Finless Porpoise Square, Nature Tower, and Juanqiaohe Wetland Park.
