Hangdao 06202, the first purely electric survey ship on the Yangtze River, has a long-distance test on October 23.
On October 23, Hangdao 06202 set off from around Zhijiang at 8:30 am and reached Yichang at 4:30 pm, covering a distance of 93 kilometers. The journey took 6.5 hours, including a one-and-a-half-hour stop.
Powered entirely by batteries, it can sail 180 kilometers on a single charge.
During the test, the ship used only 47 percent of its battery power, or about 1,180 kWh. All systems on board functioned normally.
Delivered last December, the ship is mainly used for survey work in the jurisdiction of the Yichang Waterway Authority, providing topography data and riverbed substrate hydrological analysis. It underwent several rounds of equipment testing before this long-distance voyage.
