Hubei-South Asia university presidents forum commences in Yichang

Educational experts and business representatives from China and nine other countries gathered Thursday at China Three Gorges University for the 2024 Forum of University Presidents from Hubei (China) and South Asia to discuss enhanced educational cooperation.
During the event, China Three Gorges University, Hubei University, and Wuhan University of Science and Technology signed cooperation agreements with universities and enterprises from Nepal and Bangladesh.Students from South Asian countries make up about 30% of the international student population in Hubei. Key topics highlighted by the experts included digital innovation in education, international talent training, and regional cooperation.
He Weijun, Secretary of the Party Committee at China Three Gorges University, called for deeper cooperation among universities through inter-university visits, academic exchanges, and research collaboration.
Dhruba Kumar Gautam, President of Mid-West University in Nepal, noted that expanding collaborative efforts would facilitate knowledge advancement, improve social welfare, and contribute to a sustainable future.
This forum, held for the third timesince 2018 and 2022, concluded with the introduction of the "Yichang Initiative," aimed at elevating educational cooperation between Hubei and South Asian nations to higher levels and broader scopes.
