Yichang is set to launch short-haul flights to Wuhan as Hubei Province begins testing its short-haul flights between cities.
On October 15, a Kodiak 100 aircraft took off from Wuhan Hannan General Airport and landed at Shiyan Wudangshan Airport, marking the first commercial short-haul flight within Hubei.
At the same time, Wuhan Hannan General Airport also introduced a short-haul route to Jingzhou. Future flights are planned to connect Wuhan with Yichang, Enshi, and Zhangjiajie, enhancing intra-provincial connectivity and offering a new travel option.
All short-haul routes will be serviced by Kodiak 100 aircrafts, which seat seven passengers and operate at altitudes below 3,000 meters.
This provides a unique experience compared to larger planes, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenic views along the route.
Until November 15, the public can fly the new route for just 99 yuan (US$13.90) per person, significantly cheaper than the 175 yuan train ticket between Wuhan and Shiyan.
After the promotional period, prices will increase to 399 yuan for a flight from Wuhan to Shiyan and 299 yuan for a flight to Jingzhou. Tickets can be purchased via popular travel apps and the Wuhan airport's WeChat account.
