The block along the Yangtze River has a rich history. Established as a business district in 1877, it is one of Yichang's earliest commercial streets, reflecting the city's development and urban transformation.
In 2021, the Yichang government initiated a protection and transformation project for this block, focusing on restoring its original character while introducing modern elements.

Today, the restored old buildings attract young entrepreneurs eager to start businesses such as cafes, bakeries, bars, art venues, and creative spaces.
This blend of traditional and modern elements has revitalized the block.
