US musician with his home and heart in Yichang

Did you know that each year, for every seven pianos produced in the world, one is made in Yichang City?

Barnabas Fekete is a US citizen and musician living and working in Yichang. In September 2011, he was invited to come to Yichang to work as Self Player Systems Product Manager at Parsons Music Corporation. Since then, he has been responsible for the research, development and marketing of the company’s self-playing pianos. His experience and expertise led to him being put in charge of Final Quality Control for Parsons Music Corporation’s high-end pianos. Only pianos bearing his signature can go on sale. In addition, Fekete has been developing his own music courses, which incorporate European and American musical elements and aim to make learning the piano a more enjoyable experience for children.

Recognized by Yichang High-tech Zone in 2018 with a “Top Professional Talent Award”, Fekete now has over 10 years’ work experience in Yichang and has made a significant contribution to music education and to piano R&D. At Parsons, he has taken on responsibility for international cultural exchanges, making the remarkable achievements of China’s cultural industry known to foreign guests and scholars, such as delegations from countries joining the Belt and Road Initiative.

Over the past 10 years, Fekete has witnessed China’s rapid development and its initiatives to promote common prosperity and protect the environment. With his home and heart in Yichang, he believes that “China is the envy of the world” and that Yichang City is the right place for his career.
