Dongyu Xinsheng sees 6 millionth battery cell roll off line

Hubei Dongyu Xinsheng New Energy Co., Ltd.marked a significant milestone on Thursday with the production and delivery of its 6 millionth battery cell. The company has ambitious plans to double its production to 12 million units by year-end, with a targeted annual output value of 3 billion yuan, equivalent to approximately $411 million.
The Sunwoda Dongfeng Yichang power battery base project, with a total investment of 12 billion yuan, marks the 20th project in 2022 that Yichang City has attracted with an investment of over 10 billion yuan. The power battery base is designed to have an annual production capacity of 30GWh and is expected to generate an annual output value exceeding 24 billion yuan.
The project is operated by Hubei Dongyu Xinsheng New Energy Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Sunwoda Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Dongfeng Motor Group, and Dongfeng Hongtai.

With three production lines at full capacity, the company can produce nearly 24,000 battery cells per day.
Each cell, a core component of new energy batteries, undergoes testing across 40,000 items to ensure product quality and stability.
According to the company, the 166Ah and 212Ah ranges produced by Dongyu offer enhanced safety, faster charging, and longer endurance compared to ordinary battery cells. These ranges are widely used in the production of new energy vehicles from Dongfeng, Geely, and other companies.
Dongfeng Motor Group plans to enhance its collaboration with Yichang, aiming to advance the company's second phase and support the high-quality development of Yichang.
