Yichang Haochen Low Carbon Co., Ltd. has invested 160 million yuan (US$22.5 million) in the project located in Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Yidu Green Ecological Industrial Park. Carbon dioxide waste is transported from chemical factories to the company through a gas pipeline network. After undergoing compression, desulfurization, separation and cooling processes, liquid carbon dioxide is produced for food and dry ice production. The project can produce 200,000 tons of liquid carbon dioxide from 100 million cubic meters of industrial waste gas annually.

Construction of the project began earlier this year and was completed in nine months.

"By building this project within the park, we reduced the cost of raw materials and contributed to the park's carbon emissions reduction," said Zheng Xiaofeng, general manager of Yichang Haochen.

"Production of 1 ton of liquid carbon dioxide needs 505 cubic meters of industrial waste gas. With the annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, our company can treat 100 million cubic meters of industrial waste gas every year. In the future, the company's annual production capacity will reach 400,000 tons, which can consume 200 million cubic meters of industrial waste gas every year for the park," said Zheng.

Liquid carbon dioxide is used in a variety of industries such as oil extraction, cold chain transportation and specialty planting.

Currently, the factory has ample orders and is operating at full capacity, with some products already being shipped via tank trucks.
