Yichang experiences inbound tourism surge as airport improvements attract visitors

By the end of July, Yichang Sanxia International Airport processed over 63,900 passengers, up 51.06% from 2019. Despite the summer heat, the inbound tourism market remains strong. Hubei Xiazhou International Travel Agency is busy handling about five international flights per week and plans to train 40 tour guides in Thai and Vietnamese this year.
Since July 2023, the airport has added direct flights to Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, and Seoul. To enhance the travel experience, they have improved bilingual signage, added multilingual announcements, and installed 231 foreign card POS machines and nine ATM exchange points in key tourist areas.
