Yichang has increased the construction of charging facilities in rural areas, with 430 villages now equipped with charging facilities as of the end of July.

In recent years, more rural households have purchased new energy vehicles, but the lack of charging facilities has been a major concern.

Yichang has selected 430 economically advanced villages for installation, with each village being equipped with either a double-gun DC charging station (minimum charging power of 60 KW) or a combination of a fast charging pile (minimum 60 KW) and a slow charging pile (minimum 7 KW).

As of the end of July, Yichang has installed 23,355 charging piles across its jurisdiction. The government plans to continue expanding the coverage of public charging stations and aims to achieve comprehensive coverage of all towns by 2025.

Data shows that by the end of 2020, the city had only 4,826 electric vehicles. However, by the end of July, the number had increased to 52,396, representing a nearly 11-fold increase.
