The men's 4x100m medley relay gold was won by them in 3 minutes, 27.46 seconds at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Sunday, surpassing the US team by more than 0.5 seconds. This victory put an end to the US team's 10 consecutive gold medal streak in the event since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Yichang athlete Sun Jiajun competes in the final of the men's 4x100m medley relay at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Sun Jiajun, a 24-year-old swimmer from Yichang, began training at the Yichang Sports School in 2006. He joined the Hubei Province swim team in 2013 and was later selected for the national team in 2018.

Over the past few years, Sun has achieved impressive results in both domestic and international swimming competitions.

In 2021, he became the first swimmer from Yichang to compete in Olympic swimming events. At the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, he reached the semi-finals of the 100m butterfly. In 2023, he won the bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke at the World Aquatics Championships.

During the National Swimming Championship in April, Sun set a new personal best in the 100m breaststroke final, winning the silver medal with a time of 58.73 seconds. In the 100m butterfly final, he also won the silver medal with a time of 51.54 seconds.

Paris marked Sun's second Olympic appearance, where he competed in three events: the men's 100m breaststroke, men's 100m butterfly, and men's 4x100m medley relay.
