From January to June this year, Yichang ports handled a total of roughly 75 million tons of imported and exported cargo, an year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent.
In the past six months, a new shipping route from Baiyang Port to Zhicheng Port was opened to serve industrial parks in Yichang’s Yidu area. As the route develops, the container service along the route moved 14,200 TEUs, cutting costs for local manufacturers by 5 million yuan (US$701,262). Furthermore, Baiyang Port enhances its storage capacity, leveraging geographical advantages to manage diverse client volumes and turnover efficiently, including the transportation of bulk raw materials.
Through Zhicheng Port, a new coal intermodal route has been opened to Yibin City in Sichuan Province and Qujing City in Yunnan Province, further reducing logistics costs for clients. It is a pivotal part of key connections from southern China to Yueyang and Yichang cities as well as the northwest region of China for specialty cargo, such like ceramic tiles and clay.
