Yichang’s local cruise fleet has added one new ship to meet the growing demand of the popular Two Dams and One Gorge cruise.

In the first seven months of 2024, more than 1.18 million tourists toured the cruise route, according to the Three Gorges Navigation Authority.

The Two Dams and One Gorge route, which refers to the Gezhouba Dam, the Three Gorges Dam, and Xiling Gorge, has become an essential part of visitors' travel itineraries when they come to Yichang.

A total of 622 ships, carrying about 310,000 passengers, passed through the Three Gorges ship lift in the first seven months of this year. In the same period, 1,508 ships passed through the #3 ship lock at the Gezhouba Dam, carrying a total of nearly 870,000 visitors.

The Three Gorges ship lift over the Three Gorges Dam climbs 113-meters in height and offers an amazing experience that has attracted tourists from all over the world. Passing through the Gezhouba ship locks and experiencing the tiered water ladder system makes this cruise particularly unique.

To meet the travel boom during the summer months, the Three Gorges Tourism company, which runs the cruise routes, added a new energy cruise ship, the Xilingxia Hexie, on July 27.
