Since July 2023, Yichang Sanxia International Airport opened three direct flights to Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Seoul. This year, inbound and outbound tourism is heating up. An increasing number of tourists from Thailand and Vietnam are traveling to Yichang on chartered flights. Additionally, locals from Yichang are eager to experience the high-quality route to Seoul.

During the summer vacation, the inbound and outbound passenger flow, mainly related to tourism, has been on a steady upward trend. In July alone, more than 70 flights and nearly 10,000 passengers entered and exited Yichang, among which foreign travelers accounted for nearly 70 percent, said Lu Juan, director of the Inbound and Outbound Border Inspection Station at Yichang Sanxia International Airport.
