Fresh Xiacheng oranges from Yichang are being shipped to Thailand, offering a tantalizing burst of juicy sweetness.
On July 9, farmers at Yichang Yanghong Farmer Trading, one of the largest local fruit exporters, loaded 26 tonnes of oranges onto a truck. The shipment will reach Shenzhen before being loaded onto a ship destined for Thailand.
This year, Yanghong has exported 300 tonnes of Xiacheng oranges to various foreign markets, primarily in Southeast Asia.
"The quality of Yichang Xiacheng oranges is excellent, and our international markets are stable and continually expanding. This year's export volume of Xiacheng oranges is expected to reach 3,000 tonnes," said Zhang Yanghong, chairman of the company.
To enhance efficiency, the company has implemented an intelligent citrus sorting production line. This technology categorizes oranges based on various quality indicators, including fruit diameter, skin coloration, and sugar content.
Yichang boasts 3,526 hectares of Xiacheng orange cultivation area, with an estimated production of 116,500 tonnes this year.
