Yichang Port Group has exceeded its half-year targets in three key performance indicators. The local port operator and logistics group handled 14.79 million tons of cargo, a 21 percent increase compared to last year. Container throughput reached 127,500 TEU, a 26 percent rise from last year, and rail-water intermodal container transport reached 19,500 TEU, a 30 percent increase from last year.
The group operates five ports: Zhicheng Port, Baiyang Port, Yunchi Port, Yidu Port, and Zigui Port. In the first half of this year, Yichang Port Group opened several new routes, including the Zhicheng Port - Baiyang Port - Yidu Port route and the Chongqing - Zigui - Yidu - Jiangsu route.
Additionally, the group completed the first batch of hazardous chemical transportation for Yichang Brunp, an important new energy company in Yichang.
Yichang Port Group also collaborated with port groups in Wuhan, Huangshi, and Jingzhou to renovate four old barges. This effort saved nearly 20 million yuan (US$2.75 million) in investment for the construction of the second phase of Yunchi Port and Badong Dongrangkou projects.
Furthermore, several key projects of the group have made significant progress. The first phase of the rail-water terminal at Yichang's Zhicheng Port passed inspection at the end of March and received the operating license in May. The second phase of the Yunchi Port upgrade project commenced in January. Construction of the land area for berths 3 and 4 at Badong Dongrangkou Port began at the end of June.
