After sailing along the Yangtze River, refined oil products are transported to Sinopec’s Zhijiang oil depot, the largest refined oil depot in the western region of Hubei.
The refined oil will then be transported from depot terminals to gas stations and eventually vehicle fuel tanks. Zhejiang oil depot is taking action to prevent spills and reduce pollution.
The depot has installed an intelligent management system to automatically detect and report gas leakage. It is also equipped with a range of spill-prevention and oil gas capture technologies which retrieve up to 99.5 percent of all leaked oil gasses.
Additionally, the Zhijiang oil depot has implemented significant eco-friendly initiatives to future reduce its impact on the environment.
The depot has built advanced wastewater treatment systems. Industrial and domestic sewage will be collected and treated separately.
Over 300,000 yuan (US$42,135) has been invested in hazardous waste disposal, ensuring standardized management of solid waste.
Meanwhile, the Zhijiang oil depot has built a 1.188-megawatt photovoltaic power project. Since this April, it is expected to provide over 1 million kWh of clean electricity to the depot annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 677 tons.
