Yichang integrates all parking lots into one, virtually

Yichang City announced that it has essentially achieved its goal of building “One Parking Garage for the Whole City.” The city has connected its 2,359 parking garages and a total of 374,200 parking spots across Yichang through the City Parking Management Platform, the Urban Management committee announced on October 19.
Among them, 1,385 paid garages now have automatic car identification and auto charge functions. There are 315 garages which have activated a “Pay after you Leave” function, which means car owners will be charged towards their bundled mobile payment accounts automatically, without the need to stop and pay. Powered by this function, 22 urban garages have removed bars due to all identification and payment processes being done automatically.
Drivers can register on the Yichang City Parking (宜昌城市停车) app, WeChat account or WeChat Mini Program to get real-time information about available spaces, fees, parking lot opening hours of government agencies and institutions, etc. The platform currently has about 258,000 registered users, compared to only 90,000 a year ago.
