"Grandpa Xu, thank you for fixing my lamp again," a resident of Jiu'ancheng Community in Wujiagang District, Yichang City, said to 83-year-old Xu Chengde.

Xu is a warm-hearted man. Since moving into his community, he has volunteered to clean the public space and help fix damaged flooring. Many residents were impressed by his good deeds. Noticing that he was not very well off, they gave him their old or broken home appliances, in the hope of him selling them as a means to earn money.

Surprisingly, Xu had learned to become an appliance repairman. He fixed the broken rice cookers, lamps, and electric fans, among others, before returning them to the owners. The residents were very grateful for him and happy to be helped out in return.

Xu has been encouraged by everyone’s good will and continues to help others, stating: "I can only repair small appliances. It’s no big deal. But as long as I can still move, I will pass my love on.”
