Three Gorges Dam shipping reaches 2 billion milestone

The Three Gorges Dam surpassed a massive 2 billion tons of cargo transported as of May 21, 2024, highlighting the project's critical role in improving Yangtze River navigation since opening to commercial traffic in 2003.
The ship lift, operational since 2016, has moved over 17 million tons of cargo and 1.16 million tourists. This combined system has significantly boosted the navigation efficiency.
