Yichang promotes intelligent rice planting

So far this year, Dangyang of Yichang has promoted efficient and intelligent seedling methods, and has planted over 510,000 mu (34,000 hectares) of regenerative rice and middle-season rice.
In Herong town, a mechanized intelligent seedling base has been established on 10,000 mu (667 hectares) of land.
In the rice planting base, the seedling trays are stacked and transported by a conveyor belt to a palletizing robot. The robot senses the arrival of the seedling trays and automatically lowers its mechanical arm. "Such a robotic arm can replace at least three laborers," said Hou Gui, chairman of the Hubei Jingsui Rice Planting Specialized Cooperative.
The cooperative can raise seedlings for 1,200 mu (80 hectares) per day. "It used to take a week to cultivate seedlings, but now we can produce the same number of seedlings in almost three days," Hou said.
In the 4,000-square-meter intelligent rice-planting shed, technicians can digitally control light, temperature, humidity, and other factors through system sensors to ensure a seedling emergence rate of over 95%. Mechanical transplanting will be carried out once the rice-planting procedure is completed in about 15 days.
