Yichang adds first direct flight to Vietnam

Yichang Sanxia Airport has introduced a new international flight route to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. This is the second international route opened by the airport after expanding its aviation port, following the route to Bangkok, Thailand.
An Airbus A320 freighter made the inaugural flight with 132 passengers on board. The flight landed at Yichang Sanxia Airport at 00:03 am on April 3 after a little over 3 hours.

Yichang is expecting 100 inbound chartered flights from Vietnam in 2024.
The inaugural group trip will last three days. Tourists will enjoy a cruise on the Yangtze River and visit attractions including the Three Gorges Dam, Gezhouba Dam, Xiling Gorge, and Qu Yuan's Hometown.
Operated by Qingdao Airlines, the route is carried by an Airbus A320 aircraft three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Outbound flights will depart from Yichang at 10:30 am (Beijing Time), arriving in Ho Chi Minh at 1:25 pm on the same day. Return flights will depart from Ho Chi Minh at 2:25 pm, reaching Yichang at 6:25 pm.

Since opening in 1996, Yichang Sanxia Airport now serves 70 Chinese cities and hosts flights from 17 foreign airlines.
The airport officially expanded to international routes on July 13, 2023, becoming the second international airport in Hubei province to do so, along with Wuhan’s Tianhe Airport. In 2023, the airport operated a total of 51 routes reaching 51 destinations, with a passenger throughput exceeding 3 million.
