Yaowan Tangerine garden opens for picking
The Yaowan Tangerine Orchard in Yichang officially opened for picking on October 14. Located on Yaowan Street in Xiling District, the orchard is part of the Yaowan Tangerine Core Reserve.
It's tangerine season. The branches are heavy with fruit, farmers are celebrating the harvest and customers lining up for a tasty treat.
With its bright peel color, tender flesh and rich nutritional properties, the Yaowan tangerine has been cultivated in Yichang for more than 60 years. One of the "Three Treasures of Yichang", it is a Chinese Geographical Area Listed Product.
A total of 113 hectares are planted with Yaowan Tangerine in Yichang, and this year's output is expected to exceed 4,000 tons. The Yichang government’s high-quality fruit project is tasked with promoting the Yaowan Tangerine to a broader market.
