Construction of China’s largest new energy interprovincial cruise ship kicks off today in Yichang.

The Yangtze River Interprovincial Cruise ship will be 150 meters long, 22.6 meters wide and be able to carry 720 passengers. It will be mainly used for sightseeing tours along the river in Yichang, Chongqing, Nanjing and Shanghai.

The seven-floor cruise ship is expected to be completed in two years.

The ship adopts a hybrid power system, enabling it to be 20% more energy efficient. It will be equipped with an autopilot system and a DC inverter air-conditioning system, featuring low noise and vibration.

China and Germany jointly designed the ship, with the German RhineScheme GmbH providing the design proposal.

With investments from Hubei Three Gorges Tourism Group of Yichang City Development Group, the ship is being built by Yichang Xinhui Ship Repair.
