A group of warm-hearted volunteers from Wujiagang District recently donated blood for a neighbor in desperate need for help.

On the evening of March 4, Ms. Chen suffered life-threatening injuries in a car accident and was left with multiple fractures, including her pelvis.

Upon her admission to the hospital, Chen received an emergency blood transfusion.

The hospital told Chen’s husband Mr. Wang that an operation involving the pelvis could be very complicated and last a long time, suggesting that they seek volunteers willing to donate enough blood through the process.

Wang contacted the Zhangjiawan Community for assistance.

Chen is a cashier at a supermarket in the neighborhood and often helps others, making friends with many of the residents.

The community immediately issued an urgent call for blood donations via their local WeChat group. Many neighbors stepped forward to answer the call.

On the next day, 14 residents went to a blood donation center and 10 of them matched the criteria. In total, 3,000 milliliters of blood and one unit of platelets was donated for treatment.

After the seven-hour surgery on March 14, Chen's vital signs became stable, and she was transferred to the ICU for observation.

"Thank you all for donating blood and saving my wife's life," said a tearful Wang to the neighbors waiting outside of the operation room.
