Yichang rolls out high-capacity battery cells

A battery plant in Yichang began producing high-capacity battery cells on February 21.
The CORNEX Lithium-ion Battery Industrial Park in Yiling District is the new energy battery project with the largest investment and the highest capacity in Yichang in recent years.
The project is divided into four parts. The #2 factory has three production lines for 314Ah battery cells, which are used in energy storage units for renewable power generation plants as well as for industrial clients.
In terms of quality and safety, the 314Ah range is a step up on the previous-generation 280Ah battery cells. A single cell has an energy capacity of 1004Wh and can be recharged 12,000 times.

Liu said that the factory carries out continuous debugging of key equipment to ensure product quality and stability.
The #2 factory is expected to reach full production capacity in April, producing nearly 50,000 batteries per day.
The #1 battery cell factory, which went into operation in August 2023, is producing cells for power generation projects as well as automotive power batteries for electric vehicles and electric ships.
Total investment in the park – whose 150GWh lithium battery production plant will ensure the capacity to fully charge around 2 million electric cars – is expected to reach 60 billion yuan (US$8.3 billion).
