The countdown for Yichang’s New Year Lantern Festival 2024 has begun.
The festival is set to be held from February 7 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 24 (Lantern Festival, which is the 15th day of the first lunar month). The venue will stretch 1.6 kilometers within Binjiang Park, centered around Shuangting Square.
This year's festival is designed around eight cultural themes: Traditional Chinese New Year culture, the Culture of Qu Yuan and Wang Zhaojun, Three Gorges and Yangtze River culture, Yangtze River Protection, Urban Culture and Tourist IP, Yichang's Famous Specialties, Intangible Cultural Heritages, and Sports for the Chinese New Year. The arrangement of large-scale lantern sets will showcase Yichang's charm as an ideal city for living, traveling and doing business.
Concurrent with the lantern festival this year will be a variety of activities, including scenic spot promotions, cultural performances, Hanfu costume parades and a marketplace for lanterns and creative decorative items.
