Two cities of Yichang among China’s Top 100
Two county-level cities of Yichang have been named as China’s top 100 counties/county-level cities in agricultural product contribution.
Central County Research Institute, a public think tank specializing in China’s county-level economic and social development, recently published its “Monitoring and Evaluation Report of National Agricultural Productivity Contribution Index of County Areas”. It named 100 county-level administrative units that contributed significantly to the production of agricultural products in China. Eight counties and county-level cities in Hubei Province were on the list, including Yichang’s Dangyang City and Zhijiang City.
The report said that the top 100 counties have clear advantages in agricultural production. Although their number accounts for only 3.52 percent of China’s total number of county-level units, and their population only 5.47 percent of the country’s total population, their total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery takes up 12.35 percent of the national total. Their per capita output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery is 2.26 times that of the national average. Their per capita grain output is 3.06 times that of the national average.
