The combined import and export volume of the Three Gorges Bonded Logistics Center in Yichang hit 3.04 billion yuan (US$422.4 million) in 2023, topping the Hubei provincial table. There are 82 bonded logistics centers in the whole country. The Three Gorges Center jumped seven places to rank 13th overall.
Bonded logistics centers are storage locations for export and import goods, and the main distribution sector for imported raw materials.
The Three Gorges Bonded Logistics Center (B type) was given the green light in November 2015.
A key plank in Yichang’s drive to go global, the Three Gorges Bonded Logistics Center is working with agricultural and chemical companies such as CNAMPGC-Holding, Huaken International and Sinochem Group to build a regional distribution hub for imported potassium chloride.
It also partners with the China-Europe express railway. Its one-stop service for customs clearance, warehousing and distribution cuts transportation costs for enterprises by almost 100 yuan per ton.
In cooperation with Yichang COSCO, it has opened a southward trade channel from Yichang to Qinzhou Port in Guangxi, creating a new path for exports from Yichang to southeast Asia.
In 2023, 44 new companies joined the center, bringing the total number to 304.
