Yidu charges ahead with new energy, new materials industries

In recent years, Yidu – a county level city located 54 km south of Yichang – has launched 17 lithium battery projects, covering the gamut of lithium battery cathode materials, electrolytes and additives.
Yidu HEC is one of the city’s biggest companies. Before entering the field of battery aluminum foil in 2021, it was already a key domestic manufacturer of Formed Aluminum Foil. The company’s more than 20 years of experience in producing aluminum foil material facilitated its foray into the battery industry.
HEC can now produce cutting edge battery foil with a thickness of only 4.5 microns – 1/15th of the diameter of a hair. When the first phase of its new project becomes fully operational in June 2024, HEC will be able to produce 60,000 tonnes of aluminum foil for batteries each year.
Yidu is becoming an important player in the new energy and new material industries. Haiges, a sub-project of Fortune 500 company Eastern Shenghong, has opened a plant in Yidu. The first phase of Hubei Xingyou battery-grade iron phosphate project is also up and running.
A 100 billion yuan (US$14 billion) new energy and new material industry cluster is taking shape.
